What You Need To Know
- Rider returns just four letterwinners from last year's team that finished 18-12 and was the No. 3 seed in the MAAC Tournament before it was cancelled.
- The Broncs are tasked with replacing 87.6% of its scoring from a year ago, second most in the nation behind only Kentucky (94.0%).
- Junior forward Ajiri Ogemuno-Johnson is the longest-tenured Bronc, having played in 55 games, including three starts, over the past two seasons. Tyrel Bladen has also been on the roster for two years, but redshirted his true freshman year before playing in 22 games in 2019-20.
- Sophomore guard Christian Ings played in 30 games last season, including starts in 18 of Rider's first 21 games. Allen Powell also played in 25 games as a true freshman.
- Rider gained the immediate services of two Division I transfers in Rodney "Rocket" Henderson, Jr. and Dwight Murray, Jr., who transferred from Cal St. Northridge and Incarnate Word, respectively.
- The Broncs also have six freshmen and two junior college freshmen who will suit up for this year's team.
- Syracuse is 2-0 following wins over Bryant and Niagara. Buddy Boeheim led the Orange with 21 points in the opener against Bryant before missing Thursday's win over Niagara. He reportedly will be unavailable against the Broncs. Quincy Guerrier have averaged a double-double of 19.0 ppg. and 13.0 rpg., shooting 72.7 percent (16-22) from the floor. Alan Griffin and Marek Dolezaj have contributed 13.5 ppg. apiece, and 8.5 rpg. and 7.5 rpg., respectively.
- The Broncs and Orange have met just once in the two programs' histories, a 72-54 Syracuse win exactly 70 years ago on Saturday.
- Ninth-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 141-116 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
- Only John Carpenter (292) and Thomas Leyden (187) have more wins at Rider than Baggett.
- 107.7 The Bronc will broadcast the game live, with Tom Trimarco and Demara Barnes on the call.
