HAMILTON, NY –
Jake Sollon (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) shot a one-under 71 for the second-straight round to finish one-under for the tournament and finish tied for second individually as the Rider University men's golf team finished tied for eighth at the Alex Lagowitz Memorial Invitational, hosted by Colgate University at Seven Oaks Golf Club. The Broncs shot 300 in Sunday's third round to finish with a three-round score of 894.
Sollon began the tournament with a one-over 73 in Saturday's morning round, before shooting consecutive one-under 71's for a three-round score of 215 (-1). He finished behind only medalist Chris Francoeur of Rhode Island, who finished at 209 (-7) and tied for second with Lafayette's Ryan Tall, who shot the low round of the tournament (six-under 66 in 2
nd round). Sollon was buoyed by a nine-under performance on the course's Par 5's, including an eagle on the 525-yard seventh hole.
Nathan Bazant (Venetia, PA/Trinity [California (PA)]) and
Griffin Smith (Holland, PA/Council Rock South) posted the Broncs' next-best scores of 76 on Sunday, while
Thomas Durkin (Suffield, CT/Suffield) fired a 77 and
Austin Devereux (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) shot 78. Devereux and Durkin finished tied for 32
nd at 226 (+10) for the tournament, while Bazant (229, +13) and Smith (233, +17) followed.

- After shooting under or even par four times last season, the Broncs' 2018-19 stroke average leader, Sollon, already has two rounds under par in three rounds this season.
- Sollon finished the tournament with a team-best nine birdies.
- In addition to Sollon's eagle on the 7
th, Bazant eagled the 519-yard, Par 5 5
th hole.
- Bazant played the Par 3's at +2 for the tournament – the third-best score over the three rounds. His 37 par's were also the fourth-most on the tournament.
