HAMPDEN, MA –
Jake Sollon (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) led the Rider University men's golf team with an even-par 72 Sunday as the Broncs shot 295 (+7) to stand third of 14 teams following the first round at the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse. The Broncs trail only co-leaders Columbia and Lafayette (292, +4), while Sollon is tied for sixth on the individual leaderboard.
Austin Devereux (Brielle, NJ/Manasquan) stands tied for eighth individually, finishing a stroke back of Sollon at 73 (+1), while
Thomas Durkin (Suffield, CT/Suffield) shot a 74 (+2).
Connor Bekefi (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) stands at +4 (76), while
Nathan Bazant (Venetia, PA/Trinity [California (PA)]) rounded out the Broncs' scores with a 77 (+5).

- Sollon, Devereux and Durkin each had three birdies on the round, while Bekefi had two.
- Rider was the top-finishing MAAC program on the round, ahead of Canisius (307, +19), Siena (309, +21) and Saint Peter's (313, +25).
- Rider broke 300 for the sixth time in eight rounds this season.
- After shooting under or even par four times last season, the Broncs' 2018-19 stroke average leader, Sollon, already has six rounds under par in eight rounds played this season.
- Sollon's team-leading stroke average is now 71.0.
