WASHINGTON, DC – The Rider University volleyball team fell on the road to American University, 3-0, on Wednesday evening in non-conference action inside Bender Arena.

The Eagles (7-6) won by scores of 25-15, 25-12 and 25-19. The Broncs (5-9) saw their three-match winning streak come to an end.

Rider had a tough time putting points together on the day, but freshman
Morgan Romano (Oviedo, FL/Hagerty) continued her strong play for the Broncs. Romano paced the Rider attack with 12 kills.

In the middle,
Anilee Sher (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) was steady for the guests as she recorded 19 assists, five digs, one ace and one kill.

NOTES
- Wednesday evening's contest was the second meeting between the two teams since 2016 and just the third match in the series history since the year 2000.
- As a team, Rider had 26 kills, 21 digs and four blocks.
- The match was the final non-contest tilt of the fall for Rider.
- American has won all eight meetings in the series history.

Rachelle Runyon was named the MAAC Libero of the Week and freshman
Morgan Romano was tabbed as both the MAAC Rookie of the Week and the MAAC Player of the Week.

BRONCS BY THE NUMBERS
- Romano has now registered 11 or more kills in 13 of her 14 appearances this season. She has 226 kills on the year. Her 226 kills are ninth in the country and tops amongst all freshmen in Division I.
- Defensively,
Rachelle Runyon had six digs for Rider.
- Offensively,
Alexa Shello registered six kill for the Broncs.

Kerrigan Casper made her season debut for Rider and she one kill, one assist and two block assists.

The Broncs return to action this weekend, September 28-29, with a pair of home conference matches against Siena and Marist. Rider's game on Saturday against the Saints is at 4:00 pm and it can be seen on ESPN+, while Sunday's match versus the Red Foxes is at 1:00 pm and will air on ESPN3.
