LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University women's tennis team fell to Lafayette, 7-0, Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 1-2, while the Leopards are now 1-0.
The Broncs fell in both doubles flights contested and all five singles matches played.
Cyd Melendez (Cayey, Puerto Rico/Colegio La Merced) came closest to a singles victory, falling to Samantha Snyder, 6-4, 6-4, while also coming to within a tiebreaker of a doubles win with
Angelica Garcia (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico/Academia Maria Reina), falling to Samantha Snyder and Cecilia Lesnick, 7-6 (5), at No. 1.
Amanda Binder (Princeton, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro H.S. North) and
Sarah Cheverie (Calgary, Alberta, Canada/National Sport School [Montana State]) were also competitive at No. 2 doubles, falling to Maureen McCormack and Jessica Siegel, 6-4.
The Broncs return to action Wednesday, Oct. 2, when they play host to Wagner at 3 p.m.
