LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ –
Griffin Clark (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) and
Javier Melendez (Cayey, Puerto Rico/Colegio Nuestra Senora de la Merced) both won at both singles and doubles as the Rider University men's tennis team defeated Lafayette, 5-2, Wednesday afternoon. With the win, the Broncs even their record at 1-1, while the Leopards are now 0-1.
Clark and Melendez paired on a 7-5 victory at No. 2 doubles over Ross Coleman and Nash Lovallo. Clark then defeated Josh Wolfe, 6-4, 6-4, at No. 5 singles, while Melendez scored a 7-5, 6-4, win over Daniel Kramer at No. 2.
The Broncs earned the doubles point with a 6-2 win at No. 3 from
Peter Komosinski (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Laurel Springs) and
Nicholas Salazar (Palmetto Bay, FL/Westminster Christian School) over Ryan Thompson and Wolfe.
Adrian Tsui (Roslyn Heights, NY/Roslyn) and
Benjamin Tauber (Bethlehem, PA/Nazareth Area) also won their singles matches at Nos. 4 and 6, respectively. Tsui was leading, 6-4, 5-1, when Thompson retired, while Tauber defeated Charles Keller, 6-1, 6-2.
The Broncs return to action Saturday, when they play host to Holy Cross. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
