NIAGARA UNIVERSITY, NY -
Sydney Jeffrey (Port St. Lucie, FL/Lincoln Park Academy) earned a 6-3, 7-5 win at No. 5 singles, but the Rider University women's tennis team was defeated by Niagara 6-1 on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 1-1 (0-1 MAAC) while the Purple Eagles improve to 1-0 (1-0 MAAC).
The Broncs also won one doubles match thanks to the No. 1 duo of
Cyd Melendez (Cayey, PR/Colegio La Merced) and
Angelica Garcia's (Guaynabo, PR/Academia Maria Reina) 6-2 result over Olga Donchu and Andreea Peteu.
Amanda Binder (Princeton, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro HS North) forced a third set tiebreaker before falling to Madigan Humiston 4-6, 6-4 (8-10).
The Broncs will host Lafayette on Wednesday, September 25 at 3 pm.
