Pablo Salar Carrera (Barcelona, Spain/Ies Jaume Balmes) won at No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles with
Adrian Tsui (Roslyn Heights, NY/Roslyn), but the Rider University men's tennis team fell to Niagara 5-2 on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs move to 0-1 overall and in MAAC play while the Purple Eagles improve to 1-0 overall and in MAAC play.
Salar Correa took a 6-3, 6-3 straight sets win over Jorge Sedeno and a 7-5 doubles win with Tsui over Sedeno and Darrel Harxhi.
Javier Melendez (Cayey, PR/Colegio Nuestra Senora De La Merced) earned a 6-1, 6-3 win at No. 2 singles over Harxhi for the second Rider team point. Tsui and
Griffin Clark (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) both drew competitive third sets at No. 4 and No. 5 singles, but fell 6-2, 3-6, 2-6 and 6-4, 4-6, 5-7 respectively.Â
The Broncs will host Lafayette for their 2019-20 home opener on Wednesday, September 25 at 3 pm.
