WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE BRONCS IN 2019
- Rider University field hockey is moving back to the Northeast Conference (NEC) this season. Five of the six teams that comprised MAAC Field Hockey a year ago (Bryant, Fairfield, LIU, Rider, Sacred Heart) make the move this season to the NEC, along with first-year program Wagner College and Merrimack College, which begins its transition to Division I in 2019-20.

- The NEC last sponsored field hockey in the Fall of 2012, when the Broncs won their third-straight league title and sixth in a 13-year span.

- The Broncs were picked second in the NEC Preseason Coaches' Poll. Fairfield topped the poll. Rider earned one of a possible seven first-place in the poll voted on by the league's head coaches.

- Heading into the season, the team selected Tess Coorens, Jade Freeberg and Lena Vandam as their captains for the 2019 campaign.

- The Broncs will play eight home games at Ben Cohen Field in 2019, including four of their first five contests. All home games will be broadcast on either BroncVison or ESPN platforms (ESPN+ or ESPN3).

- Rider returns two-time MAAC Goalkeeper of the Year Lena Vandam this season. Over the last two seasons, she has recorded nine shutouts and posted a .767 save percentage. Vandam has made 221 saves through her first two seasons and registered a 1.74 goals-against average. She earned First Team All-MAAC distinction last autumn.

- The Broncs also return their top-seven point producers on offense last season. Five of Rider's six all-conference performers from last season are also back this fall. Tess Coorens is coming off a career-year in which she scored 12 goals and added three assists. Carly Brosious had 10 goals and five helpers during her first year on campus and three other Broncs scored at least five goals a year ago.

- In last year's meeting, Rider defeated Lehigh, 4-2, on the road in mid-October. In the victory, Tess Coorens scored twice and Tess van Ommeren had a goal and an assist.

- Rider leads the all-time series with Lehigh 20-17-1.

- Head Coach Lori Hussong enters her 20th season at the helm of the program in 2019. She has a 249-128. She is the winningest coach in program history and looking to become the 15th active Division I Field Hockey Head Coach with 250 or more wins.

- Rider welcomes nine new players to the team in 2019. The first-year Broncs looking to make an impact this season are  Mia Frontino (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial), Kiki van Ommeren (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Montessori Lyceum Amsterdam), Amanda Zambrana (Garwood, NJ/Arthur L/ Johnson), Danielle Tyson (East Stroudsburg, PA/East Stroudsburg High School South), Maeve Riehman (Norristown, PA/Archbishop Carroll), Sierra Giuliano (Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Regional), Hannah Hartwell (Monroeville, NJ/Delsea Regional), Jenna Segrave (Ledgewood, NJ/Roxbury) and Kaitlyn Tomas (Campbellville, Ontario/Appleby College).
