KANSAS CITY, MO – Rider University Athletics Strength & Conditioning Coordinator
Gerry Green was named Master Strength and Conditioning Coach by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa) on May 9. This honor is the highest given in the strength and conditioning coaching profession. Master Strength and Conditioning Coach Bob Medina from Santa Clara University presented Coach Green with the blue MSCC Jacket at the Kansas City Downtown Marriott Hotel in Kansas City, Missouri, during CSCCa's National Convention.

"Being named a Master Strength and Conditioning Coach signifies a commitment to the student athlete, the Rider University Athletic Program, and the strength and conditioning profession. We are honored to have Coach Green as a member of our association and to have him join the ranks of the Master Strength and Conditioning Coaches. He is truly a model of an outstanding strength and conditioning professional."
In order to receive this certification and corresponding title of distinction, an individual must first meet the following criteria:
1) Hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree;
2) Be a currently practicing, full-time strength & conditioning coach of a collegiate or professional athletic team;
3) Hold current membership in the Collegiate Strength & Conditioning Coaches association (CSCCa) and be in good standing;
4) Hold the CSCCa Certification – SCCC (Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified); and
5) Have a minimum of 12 years experience as a full-time strength and conditioning coach of a collegiate and/or professional athletic team.
Green was one of 10 collegiate strength & conditioning coaches to receive the prestigious title of Master Strength & Conditioning Coach at the 2019 MSCC Ceremony, joining Tracy Baldwin (Oklahoma State University), Brandon Beach (Bridgewater College), Torre Becton (University of California-Berkeley), Beth Byron (University of Texas), Ryan Johnson (University of Missouri), Drew Kramer (Previously at Western Illinois University), Jake Manzelmann (Oklahoma State University), Daniel Roose (University of Texas) and Beverly Wheel (University of North Carolina-Greensboro). These 10 coaches joined the existing 198 Master Strength & Conditioning Coaches, bringing the total number of MSCC's to 208.
"I'm very honored to receive this credential and represent Rider University," said Green. "I also appreciate the support of our sport coaches, athletics administration and staff, athletic trainers, and student athletes."
Green came to Rider in 1987 to help establish the Rider University Fitness Center and in the fall of 2005 became the first full-time Strength and Conditioning Coordinator for the Rider Athletics Department. In 1998, Green became a certified strength and conditioning specialist from the National Strength and Conditioning Association and began training several of the Rider varsity athletic teams while serving as the director of the fitness center.
