PRINCETON, NJ – The Rider University women's track and field team closed out action at the 2019 ECAC Outdoor Championships on Sunday afternoon.
The Broncs saw one individual student-athlete and one relay earn All-East honors.
"We had some great results in difficult conditions today," Rider Head Coach
Bob Hamer said. "Those who put out great effort were definitely rewarded."
Graduate student
Sara Gardner (Holland Township, NJ/Delaware Valley) won the 100m hurdles with a gold-medal time of 13.71 in the finals.
"It was great to see Gardner get the win," Hamer noted. "She is such a fierce competitor who brings it no matter the situation. I'm really happy for her and it is now onto the NCAA preliminary round for her."
The other All-East performance on the day for the Broncs came from the 4x800 relay. The quartet of
Paris Boucher (Washington, NJ/Warren Hills Regional),
Kristin Siegle (Estell Manor, NJ/Buena Regional),
Teagan Schein-Becker (Trappe, PA/Perkiomen Valley) and
Katie Ward (Old Bridge, NJ/Mother Seton) finished seventh with a time of 9:17.71.
"The women's 4x800 is just a group of women who work hard every day and each of them is just a gritty competitor," Hamer added. "They don't always get a favorable outcome, but they always compete very hard and then on days like today you are rewarded."
