LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ - Senior
Vanessa Canda (Jersey City/McNair Academic) notched her third victory of the season at fourth singles in straight sets, but the Rider University women's tennis team fell to Fairleigh Dickinson on Saturday by the score of 6-1. With the loss, the Broncs fell to 3-10 while the Knights moved to 10-7.
The Broncs also received vital contributions at first doubles from junior
Cyd Melendez (Cayey, PR/Colegio La Merced) and freshman
Angelica Garcia (Guaynabo, PR/Academia Maria Reina) with a 6-3 win. Melendez also came the closest to gaining a second singles point, forcing a second set tie-break before losing 3-6, 5-7.
Amanda Binder (Princeton/West Windsor Plainsboro HS North) fell at second singles 3-6, 3-6.
The Broncs continue their eight-match homestand when the Explorers of La Salle visit Lawrenceville on Tuesday at 3 pm.
