WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Rider hosts Saint Joseph's on Tuesday, April 23, in a non-conference contest that will take place at Arm & Hammer Park, the home of the Trenton Thunder (Double A affiliate of the New York Yankees). The Broncs are looking to end a three-game skid against the Hawks. Rider's last win versus Saint Joseph's came in 2015 at home. The Hawks come into the contest having dropped six straight road games, while the Broncs have lost five games in a row.
- Over the weekend, Rider lost both ends of a doubleheader on the road against Georgetown. In game one, Georgetown erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the second inning and jumped out to an 11-0 lead en route to the victory. In the nightcap, the Hoyas erased a four-run deficit with a five-run rally in the seventh inning. After the frame started with an error, Georgetown hit a three-run homer with two outs and plated two more runs courtesy of another Rider fielding miscue to take back the lead for good.
- In three games last week, junior outfielder
Sebastian Williamson paced the Rider attack. Williamson hit .400 (6-of-15) with one RBI and two runs scored. In a doubleheader with Georgetown, he went 5-of-11 with a stolen base and two runs scored. On the season, he is hitting .300 with 17 RBIs, nine stolen bases, 23 runs scored and 12 extra-base hits.
- Offensively, senior
Riley Mihalik is enjoying a stellar spring. He is batting a team-best .321 with nine home runs, 31 RBIs, 28 runs scored. He has a team-leading .414 on-base percentage and a slugging percentage of .593.
- Three Broncs have recorded their 100th career hit this season. Most recently, senior
Richie Tecco accomplished the feat. Juniors
Kyle Johnson and
Joe Simone have also achieved the milestone in 2019.
- Freshmen
Andrew Imperatore and
Colin Eiser have handled the midweek pitching duties of late for the Broncs. Eiser is 0-1 with a 5.34 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 30.1 innings of work, while Imperatore is tied for the team-lead with three wins this year.
