What You Need To Know
- Rider and Marist are meeting for the 60th time, with the Broncs holding a 35-24 edge in the series. The Broncs have won the last five vs. Marist, including an 86-85 win on Jan. 27 in Lawrenceville in which the Broncs erased a 16-point deficit.
- The Broncs must win Sunday in order to clinch a first-round bye in the MAAC Championships. In that case, they could finish as high as No. 3 or as low as No. 5. A loss would push Rider to the No. 6 seed and a Thursday first-round game.
- Rider saw its three-game winning streak snapped against Iona on Friday. In spite of the loss,
Frederick Scott and
Stevie Jordan posted double-doubles.
-
Tyere Marshall had double-doubles in two-straight with 17 points and 10 rebounds against Monmouth and a career-high 25 points to go along with 14 rebounds at Saint Peter's. He is tied with Scott for the team lead with three double-doubles on the year.
-
Stevie Jordan now ranks 5th all-time in assists at Rider with 468. He also scored his 1,000th point on Feb. 12 at Quinnipiac and his 141 steals rank eighth in program history.  Â
- Rider ranks eighth nationally at 9.2 steals per game.Â
- RU has outscored MAAC opponents by 7.2 points per game in the paint.
- Head Coach
Kevin Baggett (122-103) passed former mentor
Tommy Dempsey (119-105) for fifth all-time at Rider on Feb. 15 with his 120th career win. Next on the list are
Don Harnum (127-103) and Kevin Bannon (131-103).Â
- The Broncs have been outscored by 19 points combined in the first halves of 16 MAAC games. By comparison, Rider is +77 in the second halves. Â
- After running off four-straight wins over Canisius, Niagara, Quinnipiac and Monmouth, Marist has fallen in its last three to Saint Peter's, Siena and Fairfield.
- Brian Parker leads the Red Foxes at 14.5 points and 3.5 assists per game. Ryan Funk has added 11.3 ppg., while Isaiah Lamb has chipped in with 7.8 points and a team-high 4.7 rebounds per game. David Knudsen has added 7.7 points per game, while shooting a team-best 39.5 percent from long range.
- The Broncs returned all five starters, their top six scorers and 95 percent of their scoring from last year's team.
- Seventh-year Head Coach
Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 122-103 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
