WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Rider University men's tennis team fell at Monmouth, 7-0, Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs slip to 2-5 (0-4 MAAC), while the Hawks are now 6-1 (1-0 MAAC).
Griffin Clark (Lititz, PA/Manheim Township) came closest to a win for the Broncs, pushing Sasha Pachney at No. 5, before falling, 6-4, 7-5. The next-closest Bronc to a singles win was
Nicholas Salazar (Palmetto Bay, FL/Westminster Christian School), who fell to David Weltz, 6-3, 6-1. Monmouth won all six singles flights in straight sets after sweeping the doubles point with 6-2 wins at Nos. 2 and 3 and a 6-0 win at No. 1.
"The players played well and games were extremely close," said Rider Head Coach Doug Potkay. "Lysander's match was extremely well-played. Griffin had opportunities to take the second."
The Broncs return to MAAC action on March 27, when they travel to Fordham. First serve is scheduled for 3 p.m.
