SAN FRANCISCO, CA – Junior
Sebastian Williamson (Oley, PA/Oley) collected three hits to help the Rider University baseball rally past UC Riverside, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon in a neutral-site battle at Benedetti Diamond on the campus of San Francisco.
The Broncs (5-8) bounced back from a setback to San Francisco yesterday to earn their second straight win against the Highlanders (6-10).
Trailing, 2-0, in the bottom of the seventh frame, Rider was able to cut the deficit in half thanks to an RBI single to left field from freshman
David Bermudez (East Brunswick, NJ/East Brunwsick).
An inning later, the Broncs erupted for three runs to take a lead they would not surrender.
Sophomore
Lou Priolo (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern) hit a two-out, run-scoring single to right and Williamson followed with a two-run double to left center.
Senior reliever
Zach Gakeler (Jobstown, NJ/North Burlington) worked the final two innings to pick up his second win of the season. Gakeler scattered two hits and struck out two UC Riverside batters. Â
