DOVER, DE – Senior forward
Lea Favre (Vevey, Switzerland/Lycee Jeanne D'Arc) scored the game-winning basket with 0.7 seconds left in overtime to push the Rider University women's basketball team past host Delaware State, 71-69, on Monday evening inside Alumni Hall.
Â
The Broncs (7-2) earned their fourth straight victory, while the Hornets (4-9) dropped their fourth game in a row.
Â
With the score tied at 69 after a pair of DSU free throws, Rider called a timeout in overtime to advance the ball. On the possession,
Amanda Mobley (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) saw her shot rim out and the ball went out of bound under the hoop off Delaware State.
Â
Off the inbounds pass, Favre scored on a hook shot with the game-winning bucket as the Hornets three-quarter court heave came up short.
Â
Senior
Stella Johnson (Denville, NJ/Morris Catholic) led the Bronc offensive charge with a game-high 29 points, while classmates
Amari Johnson (Red Lion, PA/Dallastown) and
Lea Favre also scored in double figures. Amari had 15 points and 11 rebounds for her second straight double-double, while Favre had 11 points on an efficient 5-of-8 shooting.

NOTES & QUOTES
"It was a great finish to our non-conference schedule. We were tested in many levels throughout the game by a well-coached and tough Delaware State team. We executed down the stretch on both ends and had some big, step-up play by a lot of different players. Being down 10 late in the game took everyone doing their job and believing in what we do and how we do it."
