LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – The Rider University field hockey team closed out the 2019 regular season with a 1-0 setback against visiting Lock Haven on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Ben Cohen Field.
Â
The Broncs (12-6) saw their four-game home winning streak come to an end, while the Bald Eagles (11-7) won their fourth straight contest.
Â
A majority of the game was played in the middle of the field as the two teams combined for just seven shots (six of which were on goal).
Â
After a scoreless first half, the guests got on the board as MacKenzie Farley scored the eventual game-winning goal off a penalty corner.
Â
Trailing by a goal, Rider threatened early in the fourth quarter as sophomore
Tess van Ommeren (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Sint Nicolaas Lyceum) fired a shot just over the cage and classmate
Julia Divorra (Terrassa, Spain/Vedruna Vall) would follow that with a shot that was turned aside by the Lock Haven goalkeeper.

NOTES & QUOTES
"Every time we play Lock Haven it's always a midfield game. They scored off one of their corners and we didn't capitalize on our chances. They are a very good. They were stronger physically than us and they wanted it more. We had to do a better job of winning 50-50 balls."
– Rider Head Coach Lori Hussong
