Angelica Garcia won her No. 2 singles match, but the Rider University women's tennis team fell to Marist, 6-1, Sunday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs close their fall season at 1-7 (0-4 MAAC), while the Red Foxes are now 2-0 (2-0 MAAC).
The Red Foxes took the doubles point with wins at the top two flights. Garcia and
Cyd Melendez were highly-competitive at No. 1, but fell to Julia Gabay and Sam Galu, 7-5, at No. 1.
Garcia got past Madison Price, 6-2, 6-3, for the Broncs' lone point in the match.
Amanda Binder pushed Vanessa Ciano to three sets at No. 3, but fell, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1. Melendez also played a close match against Gabay at No. 1, falling, 6-4, 6-4.
The Broncs return to action Feb. 7, when they begin their spring schedule at Temple.
