What You Need To Know
- Rider and Canisius are meeting for the 49th time, with the Broncs controlling the series, 35-13. However, the two teams have split the last eight meetings at Koessler Athletic Center.
- The Broncs are 2-0 in MAAC play after a pair of tight victories over Fairfield and Quinnipiac. The Broncs pulled out an 83-82 MAAC opening win over the Stags after leading just twice - 2-0 and the final score - and erased a 17-point second-half deficit. Rider then surged ahead of Quinnipiac and led for good after Jordan Allen's three-pointer to break a 65-65 tie with 57.9 seconds left.
- Rider is 2-0 in MAAC play for the first time since 2013-14, when the Broncs won their first three in the league.
- After no Rider player had compiled a double-double through the season's first 12 games, Frederick Scott has now turned the trick in consecutive games.
- After averaging a 12.5 points per game advantage in the paint against MAAC opponents last year, the Broncs have opened 2018-19 with a pair of +20 games.
- Kimar Williams has scored in double figures in each of the last three games.
- Stevie Jordan now ranks 6th all-time in assists at Rider with 398 and 21st in steals with 113.
- Canisius won its first MAAC games, earning road wins over Marist and Siena.
- The Griffs are led by Takal Molson at 17.1 points per game. Isaiah Reese has added 11.8 points and a team-high 6.1 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game. Malik Johnson (8.0 ppg.) and Scott Hitchon (7.2 ppg.) have made strong contributions.
- Jordan Allen displaced Stevie Jordan as the third-fastest to 500 points in the last 26 years at Rider, reaching the plateau in his 38th game, Dec. 12 vs. Norfolk St.
- Rider was picked to win the MAAC after winning the 2017-18 MAAC Regular Season Championship.
- The Broncs returned all five starters, their top six scorers and 95 percent of their scoring from last year's team.
- Seventh-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 114-96 record. Baggett won MAAC Coach of the Year in 2015 and 2018.
