ANNAPOLIS, MD – Navy won all six singles flights in straight sets to defeat the Rider University women's tennis team, 7-0, Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 1-9, while the Midshipmen are now 18-5.
"We played the best we could," said Rider Head Coach Doug Potkay. "Navy is a very strong team!"
Amanda Binder (Princeton, NJ/West Windsor Plainsboro North) and
Sydney Jeffrey (Port St. Lucie, FL/Lincoln Park Academy) put up the best fight for the Broncs in doubles, but fell to Meghan O'Malley and Brooke Bogdanovich, 6-2, at No. 2. Rider's duos at Nos. 1 and 3 both fell by 6-1 scores as Navy swept the doubles point.
In singles, the Midshipmen limited the Broncs to no more than one game in any set.
Vanessa Canda (Jersey City, NJ/McNair Academy) and Binder took a game in both sets.
