Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Men's Basketball Wins Sixth Straight, 74-59 Over Quinnipiac

Broncs tie for quickest to 10 MAAC wins in 21 years in league

HAMDEN, CT Stevie Jordan (Bensalem, PA/Conwell-Egan/API) led four Broncs in double figures with 18 points and six assists as the Rider University men's basketball team earned its sixth-straight win Sunday afternoon at Quinnipiac, 74-59. With the win, the Broncs earn a season sweep over Quinnipiac and improve to 17-7 (10-2 MAAC). The Bobcats slip to 9-15 (6-6 MAAC).

The Broncs led from wire-to-wire, using a 10-0 first-half run to build a 14-point lead by the five-minute mark of the period. Jordan scored five points in the run. Rider took a 40-29 lead into halftime on the strength of 57.1 percent (16-28) shooting in the first half.

Quinnipiac whittled the Broncs' lead all the way down to three on a Chaise Daniels three-point play at the 9:37 mark of the second. But Rider responded with seven-straight points to push the advantage back to double digits and put the game out of reach.

Quotes & Notes
"I thought it just came down to sharing the ball, guys executing the right way. Too many one pass and shots. That's not what we're trying to do. We could score at will. We had every opportunity to be able to score against these guys. And give them credit because they battled throughout the game."

"We just tried to do too many one-on-one and bonehead things, turnovers and things that are ill-advised that at this time of the year, we shouldn't be doing. But, again, we found a way to regroup and get the win."

"(Stevie's) the leader. He's the heart and soul. As I said, him and Dimencio both. But it starts with Stevie. As you saw, I thought Dimencio didn't play well today. But that's where you lean on Stevie because Stevie gets it and he's going to keep us under control and make sure he gets the right guy the right shot." – Rider Head Coach Kevin Baggett
