Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Monmouth Defeats Men's Basketball, 91-77

Allen scores team-high 18 points

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth's Micah Seaborn scored 21 of his game-high 30 points in the first half as the Hawks snapped the Rider University men's basketball team's 10-game winning streak with a 91-77 victory Thursday night at the OceanFirst Bank Center. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 21-8 (14-3 MAAC), while the Hawks are now 11-18 (7-10 MAAC). Seaborn, a 2016-17 All-MAAC First Team selection, was playing for just the second game following a seven-game absence due to injury.

Monmouth shot 70 percent (18-27) from the floor in the first half, including 8-of-9 from Seaborn to take a 50-32 lead into the break. The Hawks' lead would swell to as many as 23 points on a pair of occasions in the second half and the Broncs would draw to within no closer than 12 the rest of the way.

Quotes & Notes
"We didn't show up the right way. We didn't play with the right energy. I saw from the start that we weren't ready to go."

"We've got to know that teams are taking their best punch at us."

"We're going to learn from it. We're going to go back to practicing. We've got to do the little things. We were awful defensively and we've just got to take this and learn from it. It's one game. I'm not down on our team. We've just got to refocus and do the little things that got us on this 10-game winning streak and put us where we were in the league." – Rider Head Coach Kevin Baggett
