LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ –
Jordan Allen (Dover, DE/Dover) led four Broncs in double figures with 22 points as the Rider University men's basketball team defeated West Chester, 87-81, in an exhibition game Saturday evening at Alumni Gym.
Tyere Marshall (Philadelphia, PA/Martin Luther King/Putnam Science) added 19 points, while
Stevie Jordan (Bensalem, PA/Conwell-Egan/API) had 14 points, seven assists and five rebounds.
Dimencio Vaughn (New York, NY/Callaway/The Masters School) also chipped in 13 points on 5-of-5 shooting.
The Broncs quickly jumped out to an 8-0 lead to begin the game and never trailed. The advantage extended to 20 on two occasions in the first half before West Chester went on an 11-0 run to make it a single-digit Rider lead with 4:36 remaining in the half. The Broncs maintained an 11-point lead, 46-35, at the half. Allen led the way with 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting, while Jordan had 10 points and six assists.
The Golden Rams wouldn't go away, methodically whittling the lead down to two at 80-78 and 82-80 with 1:59 and 1:00 remaining, respectively. But Marshall hit a jumper on the next Broncs' possession with 39 seconds left and West Chester couldn't get the game back to within a single possession the rest of the way.
