NEWARK, DE – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team defeated both La Salle and Delaware in a tri-meet on Saturday afternoon. The Broncs topped the Explorers, 155-143, and took down the host Blue Hens, 201.5-91.5.
The Broncs (4-1) have now won three straight dual meets. Â
On the day Rider won seven different events, including both the 1M and 3M diving.
Junior
Justin Carey (Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove) had another strong day for the Broncs, winning three events. Carey opened his day with a victory as part of the 200 medley relay alongside senior
Lucas Musselman (Timonium, MD/Loyola Blakefield), freshman
Jack Ruggieri (Bellmawr, NJ/Gloucester Catholic) and senior
Vincent Gibbons (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick). The quartet finished with a time of 1:32.99.
Carey also won the 100 fly with a time of 49.67 and he also came in first in the 100 back with a mark of 50.12.
Lucas Musselman won the 200 back with a mark of 1:52.92 and he also landed in second-place in the 200 IM with a time of 1:54.76.
Vincent Gibbons also won the 50 free at 21.33 and he finished second overall in the 200 free at 1:44.02.
Rider got solid performances in the diving events from senior
Joseph Warker (Reading, PA/Wilson) and sophomore
Dillon Walles (The Woodlands, TX/The Woodlands High School). Walles won both the 1M and the 3M. He posted a score of 268.45 in the 1M and he had a total score of 303.30 in the 3M. Warker was second in the 1M at 261.20. Â
BRONCS BY THE NUMBERS

Rich Fortels finished second in the 200 back at 1:55.45.

Kyle Iorizzo was second in the 1,000 free with a time of 9:50.20.

Cole May came in second-place in the 200 fly with a mark of 1:54.90.

David Cooper was second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:10.34.

Daniel Bonge finished second in the 100 fly with a time of 51.26.
UP NEXT
Rider returns to action in two weeks, traveling to the Ocean State to compete in the three-day Bruno Invite hosted by Brown University. The event takes place November 30 -Â December 2.
