Rider Thumps TCNJ in Exhibition on Thursday

The Broncs shots over 54 percent from the field in their final tune up before the regular season

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Junior Amari Johnson (Red Lion, PA/Dallastown) scored a game-high 20 points off the bench to lead the Rider University women's basketball team past visiting TCNJ, 96-55, in an exhibition game on Thursday evening inside Alumni Gymnasium.

Rider broke the game open in the second quarter, outscoring the Lions, 18-9, to take a 44-25 advantage into halftime. The Broncs shot 60 percent from the field (21-of-35) to pull away.

Off the bench, Amari Johnson was 7-of-13 from the field, including 3-of-3 from beyond the arc. She also added five rebounds and three steals for the hosts. Junior Lexi Stover (Malvern, PA/Archbishop Carroll) and freshman Amanda Mobley (Coopersburg, PA/Southern Lehigh) each had 12 points apiece for Rider, while junior Aubre Johnson (Post Falls, ID/Post Falls) added 11 points and six rebounds for the Broncs.

We spent a lot of time on offense, because we felt like we didn't score well in our scrimmage and we saw some good results on that. We shot the ball and shared the ball well. That's who we are. BRONCS BY THE NUMBERS
- Stella Johnson had nine points, seven rebounds, four assists and two steals for the Broncs. She was 4-of-9 from the field and four of her rebounds came on the offensive end.
- Amanda Mobley also added five assists and she was 5-of-6 from the field.
- Lexi Posset had seven points, a game-high seven assists and four steals for Rider.

UP NEXT
Rider opens the regular season on Tuesday, November 6, with a home non-conference clash against defending IVY League champion Princeton with opening tip scheduled for 7:00 pm. The Broncs won the last meeting between the two teams, 70-62, in November of 2016.
