LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ – Fairfield took all six singles matches and all three doubles flights to sweep the Rider University men's tennis team, 7-0, Tuesday afternoon. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 1-3 (0-3 MAAC), while the Stags are now 1-0 (1-0 MAAC).
The Stags won all three doubles matches by wide margins, with
Peter Komosinski (Lake Hopatcong, NJ/Laurel Springs) and
Lysander Payano Almonte (New Brunswick, NJ/Colegio Quusquey/Rockland C.C.) coming the closest to a victory at a 6-2 loss to Lewis Edwards and Jeffrey Rodgers.
The Stags then dominated in singles as well, with five games being the best the Broncs could do in any match, with Payano Almonte and Komosinski both taking five games. Payano Almonte fell to Tyler Shibles, 6-1, 6-4, at No. 2, while Komosinski was defeated by Rodgers, 6-2, 6-3, at No. 4.
The Broncs return to action Friday, when they play host to St. Francis Brooklyn. First serve is scheduled for 2 p.m.
