HAMILTON, NY – The Rider University field hockey team ended the regular season with a 2-1 overtime loss on the road against Colgate at Tyler's Field in non-conference action on Sunday afternoon.  Â
The Broncs (11-7) dropped their second one-goal game on the road this week, while the Raiders (4-14) snapped a seven-game home losing streak with the triumph.
Colgate opened the scoring in the 25th minute as Meghan Minturn potted her fourth marker of the year. Minturn's strike was the lone goal in the first half as the Raiders took a 1-0 advantage into the break.
The guests knotted the tilt at one apiece in the 44th minute courtesy of a tall from freshman
Kat Conroy (Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Regional). Â Conroy scored off a penalty corner with classmate
Tess van Ommeren (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Sint Nicolaas Lyceum) and junior
Jade Freeberg (West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) picking up the assists.
Conroy's tally was the lone goal in the second half as the two squads headed to overtime tied at one.
Just under five minutes into the extra frame, Colgate struck as Nikki Potter scored the game-winning goal off a penalty corner.
In the cage for Rider, sophomore Lena Vandan (Brasschaat, Belgium) turned aside seven shots in a losing effort.
