POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The Rider University men's swimming and diving team defeated host Marist, 163-137, on Saturday afternoon in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) dual-meet action on Saturday afternoon at McCann Natatorium.
The Broncs (2-1) bounced back from a setback last time out to top the Red Foxes (2-1) for the 12th straight time.
On the day Rider won eight different events, including both the 1M and 3M diving.
Junior
Justin Carey (Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove) had another strong day for the Broncs, winning three events. Carey opened his day with a victory in the 200 fly with a time of 1:51.78. Carey finished first in the 100 fly with a time of 49.42 and he also ended up in first-place as part of the 200 medley relay.
The quartet of Carey,
Lucas Musselman (Timonium, MD/Loyola Blakefield),
Carter Paules (Emmaus, PA/Emmaus) and
Daniel Bonge (Allentown, PA/Salisbury High School) won the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:33.61.
Senior
Lucas Musselman (Timonium, MD/Loyola Blakefield) was dominant for Rider winning three individual events. He won the 200 IM with a mark of 1:54.84, he landed in first-place in the 200 back at 1:52.64 and he also won the 100 back with a mark of 51.03.
Rider got solid performances in the diving events from senior
Joseph Warker (Reading, PA/Wilson) and sophomore
Dillon Walles (The Woodlands, TX/The Woodlands High School). Warker won the 1M with a score of 276.37 and he landed in second in the 3M with a mark of 284.77. Walles continued to impress with a win in the 3M thanks to a score of 318.45 and he also came in third in the 1M at 257.62.

Patrik Rollefson finished third in the 3M dive with a score of 267.75.

Kyle Iorizzo was second in the 1,000 free with a time of 9:56.09.

Vincent Gibbons came in second-place in the 200 free with a time of 1:44.29. He also finished second in the 50 free with a mark of 20.72.

Daniel Bonge was second in the 100 free at 47.73.

Rich Fortels landed in second-place in the 100 breast at 52.09

Justin Carey was also second in the 200 back at 1:53.70.

Rider returns to action on Saturday, November 10 with a tri-meet against Delaware and La Salle that is scheduled to get underway at 11:00 am. The meet is hosted by the Blue Hens.
