WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Rider enters the week with an 11-9 overall record and a 7-5 mark in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) play. The Broncs have won three straight matches, dropping just one set during the winning streak. Â Â Â
- Last time out, Rider complete a clean weekend in the Nutmeg State with a 3-1 victory against Quinnipiac on Sunday. The win came on the heels of a 3-0 thumping of defending MAAC Champion Fairfield on Saturday.
- The Broncs are 3-4 in five-set contests this fall. The team is 6-5 in three-set matches (with all six wins coming in conference play) and 2-0 in four-game tilts. At home, the Broncs are 4-3 this year with impressive wins against Niagara, Quinnipiac, Siena and Saint Peter's.
- On Tuesday, September 4, Head Coach Chris Feliciano earned his 100th career victory at Rider. He became just the second coach in program history to reach the milestone. He enters the week with a career record of 109-129. He is the second winningest coach in program history and is four wins away from the most victories in program history.
- In the first match of the season, senior
Hailey Riede became the eighth player in program history to record 1,000 career kills. Riede is the fourth player under Feliciano to reach the milestone. In the first 32 years of the program, four players recorded 1,000 career kills. In Feliciano's eight seasons the same number of student-athletes have accomplished the feat. She currently is third program history with 1,171 kills.
- On Tuesday, sophomore outside hitter
Meredith Pellegrino was tabbed as the MAAC Player of the Week. Pellegrino earned weekly accolades for the first time in her career and she became the third Bronc to receive a weekly award from the MAAC this season.
- On the anniversary of her grandfather's passing, the Nutmeg State native was dominant for Rider in a pair of road MAAC games in Connecticut. She averaged 4.43 kills per set as the Broncs swept Fairfield and defeated Quinnipiac in four games. Against the Stags, she recorded 15 kills with an impressive .364 hitting percentage. Pellegrino also had two digs and three block assists versus Fairfield. She ended the week with 16 kills and three total blocks at Quinnipiac.
- Freshman setter
Anilee Sher has twice been named the MAAC Rookie of the Week already this season. She is averaging 9.62 assists per set and 2.93 digs per set. She also leads the team with 30 service aces. Sher has recorded a team-best 11 double-doubles this season. She has dished out 664 assists this season and registered 202 digs.
- In September, junior
Rachelle Runyon was named the MAAC Libero of the Week. It was her first career weekly award from the league. Both Runyon and Sher were named to the La Salle Invitational All-Tournament Team on the second weekend of play.
- Last week, Runyon continued her solid play on the back line for Rider in a pair of conference wins last weekend. She averaged 4.86 digs per set and had a perfect serve receive percentage in 34 attempts. In a three-game sweep of Fairfield, Runyon recorded 14 digs. She capped the weekend with 20 digs in a four-game victory at Quinnipiac. It marked her fifth match with 20 or more digs this season.
- Rider leads the all-time series with Fairleigh Dickinson, 31-18. The Broncs have won four straight matches against the Knights. Â
- Offensively,
Hailey Riede leads the team with 179 kills. She has registered 10 or more kills in 10 matches this fall, including 14 last time out at Quinnipiac.
- Senior
Savannah Logan is having a career-year. She has racked up 177 kills to go along with a team-best 2.95 kills per set. Logan has also recorded a career-high 158 digs and registered six double-doubles this autumn.
- At the net, senior
Perry Williams had a team-best 75 total blocks (22 solo blocks, 53 block assists). She has recorded six or more block assists in five matches in 2018.
- Junior
Alexa Shello is having a breakout campaign. She has 117 kills and her block sealed the Broncs win against the Bobcats last Sunday. Â
- Defensively, Runyon leads the team with 336 digs, while Sher is second with 202. On the backline,
Brynn Sherbert has chipped in 161 digs, while
Danielle Blanco has contributed 173 digs.
