BETHLEHEM, PA – The Rider University field hockey team scored four second-half goals to rally past host Lehigh, 4-2, on Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at Ulrich Field.
The Broncs (9-5) earned their sixth straight road win, while the Mountain Hawks (2-13) have now dropped 10 of their last 11 tilts. Â
Freshman forward
Carly Brosious (Drexel Hill, PA/Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast) continued her strong play with a goal, while junior
Tess Coorens (Leiden, Netherlands/Visser'T Hooft Lyceum) added a pair of markers.
Sophomore
Lena Vandam (Brasschaat, Belgium) had another strong game for the Broncs with nine saves en route to her 17th career victory.
Trailing, 1-0, at the start of the second half Rider quickly answered. Coorens scored both of her markers two minutes apart early in the second stanza to give the Broncs the lead for the good.
Freshman
Tess van Ommeren (Amsterdam, Netherlands/Sint Nicolaas Lyceum) gave Rider a two-goal edge at 3-1 in the 54th minute as she scored through a flurry in front of the Lehigh goalkeeper.
After the Mountain Hawks cut the deficit back to one, Brosious put the game away with her 10th tally of the season. van Ommeren picked up the assist on the play, her second of the day, as she played the ball up to Brosious.

"Coming off an emotional game on Friday, we came out a little flat today for the first half. However, we made a few adjustments and picked it up in the second half with the two quick goals. - It marked the ninth time this year that Vandam has turned aside five or more shots in a game. On the season she now has a .750 save percentage, 93 saves and a 2.09 goals-against average. Â
- Coorens is enjoying a breakout season. She leads the team with 11 goals and 25 points. It was her second game with two goals this fall. She has scored four goals in her last three games.
- Brosious now has 10 goals on the year. She has scored a goal in four straight games. Over her last four games she has amassed five markers and dished out two assists. She currently leads the MAAC with five game-winning goals.

Tess van Ommeren registered an assist for the fourth straight game. She leads the team with seven helpers this autumn. On the day she had a goal and two assists. Â

Rider returns to action on Friday, October 19, with a road Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) showdown against Bryant that is slated to begin at 4:00 pm in the Ocean State. The Broncs are looking to avenge a 1-0 setback to the Bulldogs last season.
