What You Need To Know
- Rider and Manhattan are meeting for the 51st time, with the Broncs owning a 27-23 lead in the all-time series. Rider has won five of the last seven. Following a regular-season split last year, Rider won a thrilling 69-68 MAAC First Round contest on the strength of Jimmie Taylor's late three-pointer.
- Rider has averaged 90.3 points per game in three league contests.
- The Rider defense came up big in a 99-76 win at Niagara on Dec. 31, holding the league's top two scorers (Matt Scott - 23.6 ppg., Kahlil Dukes - 21.8 ppg.) to a combined 18 points.
- Though MAAC Preseason Player of the Year Tyler Nelson scored at his season average with 21 on Jan. 5, the Broncs forced him into seven turnovers.
- Rider has shot 50 percent or better in each of its last two - a season-high 52.0 percent (39-75) on Dec. 31 at Niagara and 50.0 percent (32-64) Jan. 5 vs. Fairfield.
- Frederick Scott hit the game-winning three-pointer at the buzzer to cap a comeback from down 10 in the second half at Penn State.
- Stevie Jordan has been solid all-around (14.5 ppg, 7.1 apg, 4.5 rpg and 2.2 spg).
- Manhattan survived in overtime at Marist, before falling at Monmouth, 77-66.
- Preseason All-MAAC Second Team selection Rich Williams has led Manhattan at 14.1 ppg. Zane Waterman (10.6 ppg.), Calvin Crawford (10.0 ppg.), Pauly Paulicap (9.0 ppg.), Aaron Walker, Jr. (8.5 ppg.) and Zavier Turner (8.4 ppg.) give the Jaspers depth.
- Sixth-year Head Coach Kevin Baggett's teams have posted a 94-85 record and reached the MAAC Quarterfinals in each of his first five seasons. Baggett was the 2015 MAAC Coach of the Year.
