Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Men's Soccer Overpowers Saint Peter's, 4-1

Catanzaro scores game winner, adds two assists

JERSEY CITY, NJMathis Catanzaro (Montpellier, France/MHSC) scored the game-winning goal and added two assists in the Rider University men's soccer team's 4-1 road win over Saint Peter's at Jaroschak Field Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Broncs improve to 7-2-0 (2-0-0 MAAC), while the Peacocks are now 1-5-2 (0-2-0 MAAC).

Saint Peter's struck first in the third minute on a Dominic Laws goal. But the Broncs responded less than 12 minutes later with Catanzaro setting up a Jose Aguinaga (Madrid, Spain) goal just before the 14-minute mark. The game would remain tied at the half.

The Broncs wasted little time in taking the lead a minute and 10 seconds into the second half, with Catanzaro finishing off an Aguinaga assist. Just over four minutes later, the Rider cushion would expand to two goals with Pablo DeCastro (Madrid, Spain) finishing from Clement Bourret (Orleans, France/Lycee Jean Giraudoux). Elliott Otmani (La Ciotat, France/Bonaparte) delivered the final dagger with a goal in the 63rd minute, while also delivering Catanzaro's second assist.

Quotes and Notes
""I think we gave away an early one but we came right back and probably could've had four in the first half. We hit the post and the goalkeeper made a couple good saves. At halftime, we told them it wasn't good enough. And then we came out in second half and had about as good of a second half as I could've expected. All in all, it was a good performance." – Rider Head Coach Charlie Inverso
