Fairfield, CT – The Rider University volleyball team fell on the road in Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action to Fairfield, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Stags (8-6, 3-0 MAAC) topped the Broncs (6-8, 1-2 MAAC) by a score of 25-17, 11-25, 25-20 and 25-21.
The Broncs fought hard in the fourth set, reaching 20 points before the Stags, but the hosts rallied to score the four-set victory.
Junior
Hailey Riede (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest) paced the Rider attack once again with 11 kills, classmate
Savannah Logan (Jupiter, FL/Benjamin) and sophomore
Evelyn Shanefield (Drexel Hill, PA/Upper Darby) each chipped in six kills apiece.
Senior
Veronica Koval (Allentown, PA/Parkland) had another solid performance for the Broncs, dishing out 25 assists to go along with nine digs, four block assists, one kill and one service ace.
Defensively,
Emma Aldaya (Prospect Park, PA/Merion Mercy Academy) and
Brynn Sherbert (Temecula, CA/Great Oak) both also contributed nine digs apiece, while
Danielle Blanco (El Paso, TX/Franklin) and recorded eight digs of her own.

"I thought we battled very well today," Rider Head Coach Chris Feliciano said. "With that being said, we have to do a better job controlling the ball when a touch is off."
- Rider had 31 kills and 47 digs as a team.
- The Broncs are 1-4 in true road games this season and 3-7 in total outside of Lawrenceville.
- Rider has lost two straight league matches after winning its MAAC opener against Niagara last Saturday.
