Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Fairleigh Dickinson shuts out Women's Soccer, 2-0

Knights score twice late in first half

TEANECK, NJ – Fairleigh Dickinson's Elma Kolenovic scored a pair of first-half goals within less than five minutes of each other as the Knights defeated the Rider University women's soccer team, 2-0, Sunday morning. With the loss, the Broncs fall to 0-2-0, while the Knights improve to 2-2.

The 2016 NEC Golden Boot honoree got things started in the 32nd minute, finishing a cross from Julia Shea inside the six-yard box. Less than five minutes later in the 37th minute, Kolenovic collected a thru ball from Alyssa Caggiano in the middle of the 18-yard box and finished past Broncs' freshman goalkeeper Carmen Carbonell (Valencia, Spain/Guadalaviar School) for the 2-0 advantage.

Quotes & Notes
"FDU are a tough match up for us physically and we didn't adjust quickly enough to their style of play. So we gave up two first half goals for the second game in a row. We struggled to move the ball and possess the ball like we are striving for and working hard to do so were unable to control the tempo and create the opportunities needed to get back in the game from 2-0 down. Roll on Thursday!" - Rider Head Coach Drayson Hounsome

- For the second-straight game, Carbonell and Amy Kozlowski (Middletown, CT/Middletown) split the game in goal. This time, Carbonell made her first-career start. In both games this year, the opposition has scored a pair of first-half goals.
- Freshman Emily Paterson (Wilson, NY/Wilson) made her collegiate debut, logging the final 13 minutes of the first half.
- The Broncs have dropped their first two decisions for just the second time in Hounsome's 10-year tenure with the Broncs, with the other instance coming in 2009.
