Broncs Blanked by James Madison

Riede records eight kills in the loss

Harrisonburg, VA – The Rider University volleyball team fell to host James Madison in the finale of the JMU Tournament on Saturday afternoon. The Broncs (1-2, 0-0 MAAC) were topped by the Dukes, 25-20, 25-16 and 25-17.

As a team, Rider had 25 kills and took advantage of 14 Duke attack errors. Offensively, junior Hailey Riede (Haworth, NJ/Northern-Valley Demarest) led the Bronc attack with eight kills, while Savannah Logan (Jupiter, Fl/Benjamin) chipped in five of her own.

Defensively, Rider had five total blocks and 34 digs. Leading the way for the squad was Perry Williams (Portland, OR/Cleveland) with three blocks, while freshman Danielle Blanco (El Paso, TX/Franklin) had a team-best 11 digs.

Notes & Quotes
"I thought we played well in bits and pieces today," Rider Head Coach Chris Feliciano said. "Our hitters are still getting acclimated to moving around the block. We need to focus on our team defense concept."

- Rider was blanked for the second consecutive match.
- In the match, Rider committed 11 attack errors.
- Blanco's 11 digs were in a new career-best in her third match as a Bronc. The first-year standout has appeared in all 11 sets for the Broncs thus far and racked up 22 digs.

Broncs by the Numbers
- Riede led the team in kills for the first time this season. Through three matches, she leads the team with 27 kills (2.45 per set).
- Logan recorded five or more kills for the second match in a row.
- Veronica Koval had a team-best 13 assists, while Blanco added a career-best six of her own.  
- Perry Williams led the Broncs in blocks for the second match this fall.  
- Emma Aldaya chipped in six digs for Rider. She leads the team with 44 digs this season. She has accounted for 32 percent of the team's digs.

The Broncs return to action on Wednesday, August 30, hosting Saint Francis Brooklyn in their home opener. Last season, Rider defeated the Terriers, 3-1, in Lawrenceville last August.
