ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Rider University swimming and diving team saw more student-athletes land on the podium on the second day of action at the ECAC Open Swimming and Diving Championships in Lejeune Hall and hosted by Navy.
Through 42 events, the Rider women moved up to 10th-place with 82 points, while the men jumped into second with 262 points. The Naval Academy is in first-place in both the men and women's standings. The Broncs are one of five schools to have both their men's and women's teams in the top-10.
Rider placed three swimmers in the top-seven in the 200 free, highlighted by junior
Zack Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River HS North) taking first-place with a new meet-record time of 1:34.75. Molloy earned 20 points for the Broncs with the win, while his brother
William Molloy (Toms River, NJ/Toms River HS North) took sixth and senior
Sam Cramer (Escondido, CA/San Pasqual) landed in seventh.
Freshman
Justin Carey (Landenberg, PA/Avon Grove) had a strong showing in the 100 back, finishing second with a time of 49.20 for the Broncs.
The Bronc quartet of Carey, Cramer,
Matthan-Matthew Martir (Severn, MD/Old Mill) and
Vincent Gibbons (North Brunswick, NJ/North Brunswick) took home a fourth-place finish in the 200 medley relay. Sophomore
Lucas Musselman (Timonium, MD/Loyola Blakefield) ended up in fourth in the 400 individual medley.
For the women,
Hannah Bayer ( Forest Hill, MD/Bel Air) placed seventh with a time of 4:38.27 in the 400 individual medley. The quartet of Bayer,
Casey Wrabley (Forest, VA/Jefferson Forest),
Tara Maniace (Neptune, NJ/Neptune) and
Olivia Iswalt (Reading, PA/Berks Catholic) recorded a ninth-place finish in 800 free relay.
The Broncs close out the three-day event on Sunday, March 5.
