Jimmie Taylor (Branford, FL/Suwannee) has been named MAAC Player of the Week and College Sports Madness MAAC Player of the Week after averaging 23.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game in the Broncs' 2-0 week. Taylor shot 56.0 percent (14-25) from the floor, 46.2 percent (6-13) from long range and 86.7 percent (13-15) from the free-throw line.
Taylor started the week with a 28-point, five-rebound performance against Manhattan, hitting 7-of-15 attempts, including 3-of-8 from long range, while also knocking down 11-of-13 free-throw attempts in the Broncs' come-from-behind 93-82 win. He then made seven field goals on 10 attempts and grabbed seven rebounds in Rider's 99-82 win at Quinnipiac. He connected on 3-of-5 three-point attempts, made both of his free throws and blocked a pair of shots.
Over his last six games, Taylor has averaged 25.2 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, shooting 64.6 percent (51-79) from the floor and 63.9 percent (23-36) from long range. For the year, Taylor ranks 10th in the league at 15.7 points per game.
The sixth-seeded Broncs (17-14, 10-10 MAAC) open MAAC Championship play Thursday at 9 p.m. against 11th-seeded Manhattan (10-21, 5-15 MAAC) at the Times Union Center in Albany, NY.
