What You Need to Know
- Rider opens the 2017-18 campaign at home on Friday, November 10, at 5:30 pm against defending Patriot League Champion Bucknell.
- Rider returns two starters and two All-MAAC performers from last year's squad in senior Kamila Hoskova and sophomore Stella Johnson. Hoskova started every game for the Broncs and earned Second Team All-MAAC honors last fall, while Johnson started 32 games a freshman and was a unanimous selection to the MAAC All-Rookie Team.
- Lexi Stover, Hoskova and Lexi Posset are the team captains for the 2017-18 season. Posset looks to transition from her role as the first player off the bench as a sophomore to starting point guard as a junior.
- In total, Rider returns six letter winners from last year's record-breaking team.
- Rider has five players that will be making their debuts with the team this season. Amongst them are two freshmen (Jaiden Morris and Daija Moses), two sophomores (Lea Favre and Aubre Johnson) and a junior (Taylour Jones).
- Rider and Bucknell are meeting for the first time since the 2011-12 campaign. In that meeting, Rider scored a 63-43 victory. The Bison lead the all-time series, 14-9, with the first contest between the two squads taking place during the 1980-81 season.
- The Bison were tabbed as the preseason favorite along with Army in the Patriot League Preseason Coaches' Poll. Bucknell is ranked No. 17 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major Top-25 Poll to begin the season. The Bison return two starters from last year's team that won the Patriot League Championship. The team will look replace the production of three starters lost to graduation.  Bucknell was 27-6 in 2016-17 and like the Broncs they earned 16 conference wins. On the road last year, Bucknell was 11-6. The top returner for the Bison is Kaitlyn Slagus who averaged over 12 points and nearly nine boards per game. Other returners looking to make an impact for Bucknell are guard Kyi English and Kate Walker.
- Rider will play teams from the Patriot League in each of the first four contests this season. The Broncs open up at home versus Bucknell, before traveling to Navy for a road game. Rider concludes its four-game stretch versus Patriot League foes with a home game against Holy Cross and a road tilt with Lafayette.
- The Rider University women's basketball team was picked to finish sixth in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll as announced in mid-October during the MAAC Basketball Preseason Awards Show on ESPN3. The Broncs earned 68 points in the poll that was voted on by the league's 11 head coaches. Defending MAAC champion Quinnipiac unanimously topped the poll with 121 points and all 11 first-place votes, while Marist had 109 points in second-place. Iona was third with 81 points, while Fairfield (77 points) and Monmouth (71 points) rounded out the top-five of the poll. Rider was in sixth just three points back of the Hawks, while Canisius was seventh with 60 points.
- Senior guard/forward Kamila Hoskova and sophomore guard Stella Johnson both earned preseason honors from the league. Hoskova landed on the Preseason All-MAAC Second Team, while Johnson received Preseason All-MAAC Third Team distinction.
- Rider made its first-ever appearance in a Division I postseason tournament with its participation in the 2017 WNIT. By virtue of finishing second in the regular season in the MAAC and top-seeded Quinnipiac winning the MAAC Tournament, Rider earned the conference's automatic bid.
- Stella Johnson set a new Rider Division I program record with 93 steals last season. It was the most by a single player since 1981-82. Last season, she registered four or more steals in a game nine times. Earlier in her freshman campaign, she set a new program-high with eight steals in a win against Lafayette. She ranked third in the conference and led all freshmen in steals with 2.8 per game in 2016-17.
- Head Coach Lynn Milligan picked up her 100th career win at Rider last winter at Saint Peter's. In a program that dates back to 1925, she is just the second coach to reach 100 wins with Rider. Milligan already has the second most win in school history behind long-time coach Eldon Price's 162 victories.
