Lawrenceville, NJ – The Rider University volleyball team blanked visiting Coppin State, 3-0, on Friday afternoon inside Alumni Gymnasium. The Broncs scored their ninth shutout win of the fall thanks to defeating the Eagles by scores of 25-14, 25-12 and 25-18.
Rider (16-14) won their third straight non-conference match, while Coppin State (4-25) has now lost three of their past four matches.
The Broncs controlled momentum early, taking advantage of four CSU attack errors and three service errors in the first set. Rider never looked back and won their third non-conference match in a row by three sets. Â
Offensively, junior
Hailey Riede (Haworth, NJ/Northern Valley-Demarest) paced the Rider attack with 10 kills and a .350 attack percentage. Thrust into a starting role, freshman
AudreyRose Hutchinson (San Diego, CA/East Lake) registered eight kills and a .500 hitting percentage, while junior
Savannah Logan (Jupiter, FL/Benjamin) also added eight kills for the Broncs. In the middle, junior
Perry Williams (Portland, OR/Cleveland) was efficient. Williams had seven kills and an impressive .750 hitting percentage on the day.
Senior setter
Veronica Koval (Allentown, PA/Parkland) was solid on both sides of the ball for the hosts as she recorded her second straight double-double. Koval finished with 34 assists and 11 digs.
Defensively, senior tri-captain
Emma Aldaya (Prospect Park, PA/Merion Mercy Academy) played well with 17 digs. In seven sets this week, Aldaya has racked up 41 digs and she averaging 5.85 digs per set. Â Â

Broncs by the Numbers
- Koval has had 25 or more assists in 26 matches this season, including 21 straight. Koval became the Rider all-time leader in assists on Wednesday and on Friday she became the first player in program history to record 3,000 career assists. The double-double was her team-leading 13th of the 2017 and her second in a row. She is the only Bronc with a double-double this year.
- Riede has a team-best 343 kills in 2017. She is now ninth all-time in Rider history with 962 career kills. It marked her 16th match of the year with a hitting percentage over .300. Â
- Aldaya has recorded 10 or more digs in 22 matches this season, including 12 times in MAAC play.
- As a team, Rider had a .372 attack percentage. The Broncs are undefeated (7-0) when registering a hitting percentage over .300.
