#22 Men's Soccer Falls at Siena, 2-1

Gabriel scores second goal in defeat

LOUDONVILLE, NY – Freshman Aaron Gabriel (Louisville, KY) scored in the 87th minute, but it wasn't enough as the nationally-ranked No. 22 Rider University men's soccer team fell at Siena, 2-1, Wednesday afternoon. The loss snapped the Broncs' seven-game winning streak, dropping Rider to 10-3-0 (5-1-0 MAAC). The Saints are now 3-4-7 (1-1-4 MAAC).
 
Siena scored on its first shot of the game in the 34th minute, as Tommaso Centemero led Jesse Rodrigues into the box and Rodrigues lofted it over David Pastuna (Robbinsville, NJ/Robbinsville) for the score. The Saints would add another tally in the 76th minute, as Alejandro Riquelme played the ball ahead to Conor McGlynn, who finished to the left corner.
 
Gabriel shot through the left side to finish Jose Aguinaga's (Madrid, Spain) cross to cut the deficit in half with less than four minutes remaining. Bu the Broncs couldn't get another and the Saints came away with the victory.

- Over the Broncs' seven-game winning streak, they'd outscored the opposition, 16-3. The opposition has had to score multiple goals to defeat Rider in each of the Broncs' three losses this season.
- The Broncs had been unbeaten in their last five games against Siena (4-0-1). The loss gives Siena an 11-9-5 edge in the all-time series.
- The Broncs entered the game ranked No. 22 nationally in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll and No. 24 in the College Soccer News National Poll.
