Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match
Griffin 1,000 kills
RIVERDALE, NY—Despite career kill 1,000 from senior Kaitlyn Griffin, the Rider University volleyball team lost a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match at Manhattan College on Wednesday night.
The Jaspers won 25-21, 25-23, 25-22.
"Every time I feel like we are taking a step forward we take two back," said a disappointed head coach Christopher Feliciano who saw his squad fall to 1-4 in conference play. "We need to play with more hustle and heart. Plain and simple, as a unit we played very poorly."
Griffin and senior Ryan Ackermann each had seven kills with junior Veronica Koval adding a 'double-double' of 30 assists and 13 digs with two service aces and she attacked .286.
A veteran of 113 matches, Griffin now has 1,005 kills in her career.
Manhattan improves to 29-8 all-time over Rider.
The teams last met in the 2015 MAAC quarterfinals.
Rider and Manhattan split the two regular matches last season with each team winning on the road which was the fourth year in a row that the teams split the regular season series.
Manhattan makes the return trip to Rider on October 15.
Rider travels to Saint Peter's University on Saturday for a 1pm MAAC match.
