MAAC Announces 2016-17 Basketball Hall of Fame Honor Roll Class

EDISON, NJ – The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference has announced the latest class to be inducted in the MAAC Honor Roll, in which honorees will be enshrined in “The MAAC Experience” exhibit at the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame on October 15.

Representing the Broncs will be a pair of Rider University Athletics Hall of Famers, Linda DiGiuseppantonio Genther '87 and Dick Kuchen '66.

Each member institution of the MAAC honors one male and one female from its basketball “family” as part of the 2016-17 induction class. A dinner event will be on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame Court of Dreams to recognize the Honor Roll inductees.

Each honoree will be profiled in the game program for the 2017 MAAC Basketball Championships, and will also be featured in a video display at “The MAAC Experience.”

Linda D. graduated from Rider fifth in career scoring (1,090) and third in career assists (329). She helped Rider make the transition from Division II to Division I and led Rider to its first-ever East Coast Conference final four as a junior.  Twice an All-ECC selection and an ECC All-Tournament team selection, Linda D. went on to be a successful coach on the AAU level.

Kuchen graduated in 1966 as the Rider career leader in rebounds (822, 11.1 per game) and was fifth in career scoring (1,127, 15.2 ppg). A member of the 1963 Rider team that upset national power NYU, Kuchen was drafted by the St. Louis Hawks of the NBA. As a college coach he went to the Final Four as an assistant at Notre Dame and served as head coach at both Cal Berkley (80 wins) and Yale (151 wins).
