Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match
JERSEY CITY—The Rider University women's tennis team wrapped up the 2015-16 season with a 6-1, Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference loss at Saint Peter's University on Tuesday afternoon.
For Rider (2-17, 0-7 MAAC), freshman Vanessa Canda (Jersey City/McNair Academic HS) won 6-4, 6-3 at first singles, her sixth win of the season.
“The singles matches were very competitive and we had a lot of long points,” said head coach Doug Potkay. “Vanessa came away with a victory, forcing her opponent to make mistakes.”
Canda and sophomore Olivia Banks (Baltimore, Md./Frankin) won 7-6 (5) at third doubles with the Peacocks winning at first and second doubles to secure the team point.
The Rider women return all seven letterwinners for the 2016-17 season.
The Rider men are back in action on Thursday against Sacred Heart.
