Stevie Jordan (Bensalem, PA/Conwell-Egan/API) has been named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Rookie of the Week for the second time this season, the conference office has announced. Jordan averaged 13.3 points, 8.0 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 2.0 steals per game while shooting 50.0 percent (15-30) from the floor and 80.0 percent (8-10) from the free-throw line as the Broncs went 3-0 with wins over Kennesaw State, Drexel and North Carolina A&T.
Against Kennesaw State, Jordan dished out a career-high 12 assists to go along with six points, four rebounds and two steals. The 12 assists are the most by a Broncs player in at least the last 21 years, as far back as full box scores are available.
Jordan then went off for a career-high 26 points on 10-of-14 shooting and 5-for-5 from the free-throw line against Drexel. Included in the production was a three-pointer to break a 79-79 tie and the Broncs never relinquished the lead. He also added six assists, five rebounds and two steals.
Jordan finished the week with eight points, six rebounds, six assists, two steals and a block in a 60-59 win at North Carolina A&T. Jordan is now averaging 10.0 points and a MAAC-leading 5.6 assists on the year.
The Broncs wrap up Gotham Classic action Thursday, when they travel to Amherst, Mass., to take on the University of Massachusetts. The contest serves as a de facto Gotham Classic championship game as the Broncs and Minutemen are both 3-0 in the tournament. Tipoff from the Mullins Center is slated for 7 p.m.
