Rider Broncs (2-1, 0-0 MAAC) at Fordham Rams (4-1, 0-0 Atlantic-10)
Location: Bronx, NY – Rose Hill Gym
Tip: 2:00 p.m.
What You Need To Know
- Rider and Fordham are meeting for the first time since Dec. 7, 1948, when the Rams extended their lead in the all-time series to 4-0. All four games, played between 1932-1948, were contested at Fordham.
- Rider started the season 2-0 with wins at Hampton and Hartford. It was just the program's third 2-0 start in the last 42 years (2003-04, 2009-10) and the first since the Broncs defeated Mississippi State and Lehigh to begin the 2009-10 season.
- The MAAC's leader in field-goal percentage as a junior (.565),
Kahlil Thomas is off to an even-more efficient start to this season (.593/16-27). Thomas posted a double-double of 20 points and 13 rebounds at Hartford.
- Freshman
Stevie Jordan scored 14 points at Hampton, the most points on record by a Bronc making his debut as a freshman in at least the last 21 years (as far back as full box scores are available). Jordan also dished out five assists, grabbed three rebounds and blocked two shots to earn MAAC Rookie of the Week.
- Fordham has reeled off four-straight wins at home since a season-opening road loss at East Tennessee State. The Rams defeated NYIT on Nov. 14, before winning three games in three days in hosting the Johnny Bach Classic, Nov. 18-20. Fordham scored wins over Fairleigh Dickinson, Saint Peter's and Lipscomb in the tournament victory.
- The Broncs were picked to finish seventh in the MAAC by the league's coaches.
Kahlil Thomas was selected to the Preseason All-MAAC Second Team.
- The Broncs are led by fifth-year Head Coach
Kevin Baggett, whose teams have posted a 69-65 record and reached the MAAC Quarterfinals in each of his first four seasons in Lawrenceville. Baggett was the 2015 MAAC Coach of the Year.
