Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Match
JERSEY CITY—The Rider University volleyball team swept a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference match at Saint Peter's University on Saturday.
The Broncs won 25-18, 25-13, 25-19.
“It was good to get back in the win column today,” said head coach Christopher Feliciano who had seen his squad lose two of three matches entering play. “We've lost MAAC matches with scores all in the 20-22 range, so to be able to get a win and play more like ourselves was extremely rewarding to watch. We need to be willing to do everything as a team to continue to have this feeling.”
For Rider (8-10, 2-4 MAAC), senior Ryan Ackermann had 11 kills and nine digs, adding a service ace and a block while attacking .364 and now has 975 career kills.
Also for the Broncs, sophomore Hailey Riede had 10 kills and posted an outstanding attack percentage of .769 with junior Veronica Koval adding 29 assists.
Freshman Rachelle Runyon had 11 digs for the Broncs with junior Emma Aldaya adding 10 digs.
Rider held a .392 to .160 attack advantage.
Rider swept the Peacocks for the fifth season in a row last season and won 3-0 in Lawrenceville and 3-2 in Jersey City in 2014. In 2013, the Broncs won twice, both by 3-1 scores. Rider leads the all-time series 26-20 and the Broncs have won 13 matches in a row over the Peacocks.
The teams again meet in Lawrenceville on November 5.
Rider travels to Marist College and Siena College October 8-9 for a pair of MAAC matches.
The Broncs return home October 15 for a rematch against the Jaspers of Manhattan College.
