HACKENSACK—Despite leading two sets to none, the Rider University volleyball team lost the final non-conference regular season match at Fairleigh Dickinson on Wednesday night.

The Knights of FDU won 19-25, 23-25, 25-15, 25-16, 15-12.

“We had a six point lead in set two that we almost didn't close out,” said head coach Christopher Feliciano.  “That gave FDU all the momentum back.”

For Rider (7-9), freshman Catie Harding (Kirkwood, Mo./Kirkwood) had 16 kills and 12 digs but made 10 errors in the match.

Also for the Broncs, sophomore Emma Aldaya (Prospect Park, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) had 29 digs with sophomore setter Veronica Koval (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) compiling 27 assists and senior setter Brandie Hill (Portland, Ore./Lincoln) added 26 assists.

Rider and FDU met twice last season with the Broncs winning 3-0 at the Rose Hill Classic hosted by Fordham University and 3-1 in Lawrenceville.  This was the 45th meeting all-time with Rider leading the series 27-18.

This is the second match in a row that Rider has led two sets to none and has not come home with the victory.

Rider is 2-0 and in first place in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference and the Broncs continue conference play against Marist College on Saturday, beginning at 1pm in Alumni Gymnasium.
