Broncs Honored by MAAC for Academics
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference announced that of Rider University's 322 student-athletes who compete in the MAAC, 185 were named to the MAAC Academic Honor Roll for the 2014-15 academic school year.
To qualify for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll a student-athlete must have a 3.2 or better grade point average.
The men's and women's cross country and track & field teams led the way with 42 honorees, including junior Amanda Kleinmann of Trenton who has a 4.0 grade point average, majoring in Management and Leadership, and sophomore Christine Stango of Yardley, PA, a Management and Leadership major with a 3.95.
A dozen members of the MAAC Championship women's soccer team were on the honor roll, led by Academic All-American Tara Ballay, a junior from Delran, NJ, who majors in Psychology and owns a 3.901 grade point average.
The men's soccer team had 17 of its 28-man roster represented on the honor roll, led by sophomore Matt Fryc of Jackson, NJ who possesses a 3.87 g.p.a. while majoring in Business Administration.
The MAAC regular season champion baseball team had 16 players on the honor roll, including senior Nick Richter of Fox River Grove, Ill., who graduated with a 3.895 as a Business Administration major.
The volleyball team had 11 of its 16 players on the honor roll, including freshmen Jennifer Borio of Ridley Park, PA and Brooke Enners of Scotch Plains, NJ. Borio is majoring in Education/Special Ed. and owns a 3.9, while Enners owns a 3.9 majoring in Criminal Justice.
Rider's wrestling team, which does not compete in the MAAC and was not eligible for the MAAC Academic Honor Roll, placed three on the National Wrestling Coaches Association All-Academic team.
