POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.—For the first time this season, the Rider University volleyball team lost two conference matches in a row with the Broncs falling 3-1 at Marist College on Sunday afternoon.
Rider won the opening set 25-21 before losing three straight 25-20, 25-16, 25-16.
"We struggled offensively and that was the deciding factor," said head coach Christopher Feliciano.
For Rider, junior Ryan Ackermann (Ashburn, Va./Stone Bridge) had 13 kills but made seven errors in the match.
Sophomore Veronica Koval (Allentown, Pa./Parkland) had her second strong match of the weekend with 17 digs and 13 assists.
Sophomore Emma Aldaya (Prospect Park, Pa./Merion Mercy Academy) had 16 digs and freshman McKenna Smith (Brandon, Fla./Newsome) added 11 digs.
Marist held a 55-40 advantage in kills and out-hit Rider .230 to .135.
Rider defeated Marist at the end of September by a 3-1 score in Lawrenceville.
Marist improves to 24-15 all-time against the Broncs.
Rider (14-12, 9-3 MAAC) hosts Manhattan College on Wednesday evening in a MAAC match, beginning at 7pm in Alumni Gymnasium.
